I believe it was discussed in the pharmacy forum, not pre-pharm.

Anyway, ambulatory care is kind of like retail pharmacy, but you actually do some patient care as well.

For instance, you might meet with diabetic patients on a regular basis to go over their blood glucose meter results and assess how well their medication is managing their condition. You can suggest changes in their meds.

You also dispense drugs like at any other pharmacy, but you take the time to counsel all patients with a new prescription.

I did my ambulatory care rotation at a clinic. Besides counseling, I looked at charts & lab results and made suggestions for better medications to the clinic physicians.
