Hi y'all,

I did AFROTC in college and am trying to decide what "Experience Type" to list it under. I was thinking "Paid Employment -- Military", but it seems like a bit of a stretch -- as if I'm saying I was in the military (I received an Honorable Discharge when I left ROTC, so I guess I technically was in the military--it still feels like a cop out)

Should I put it as Paid Employment--Military? They paid for my freshman year's tuition plus a living stipend, and it was a military organization so it seems to fit. However, so do "Community Service", "Extracurricular", and "Leadership Not Listed Elsewhere".

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm guessing EC of the choices you listed, unless you did some kind of super military leader thing.

Hi DC,

I would list it as extracurricular. As a freshman/AS100, you don't have leadership experience in the program until after field training (300/400 level); you're there in a strictly "student" role to learn about the Air Force. And while you may have contracted for the scholarship, it's not actually military service. IE, you didn't attend basic training or a tech school.

I'm an AS400 right now, but will still only be listing 2 of my 4 years in the program as leadership experience, and will list my prior active duty time as paid military service.

Hope this helps,
June
