If I am not mistaken, there is financial aid for applying to medical schools if you are qualified. From what I heard, you get to apply to about 10 schools for free of charge, is that correct? I can't seem to find a section in the AMCAS app that allows you to fill in these financial information. Any idea, friends?

Thanks =)

It is called the Fee Assistance Program or FAP. Search aamc.org for FAP and you will find it. To apply you enter some basic financial info about you and your parents, but then you will need to send them copies of 1040's, W-2's, etc. It seems that if you fax it in it will get processed quickly. If you submit the AMCAS before you are confirmed you will not get it. To be eligible your total family income must be within 300% of the poverty level.
If you qualify, you get to apply to 13 schools for free, after that it costs $31 per school. (It also would have gotten you a reduced MCAT fee) It is valid for the calendar year in which you get it only.
Any questions? 😛
