For those of us applying on the AMCAS application that opened June 1st, 2017, what is the soonest that people will start getting accepted and rejected?
I know typically first acceptances are sent out Oct.15.
You can get rejected as soon as in July after filling out a secondary. I filled out a secondary application (with two 500 word essay), and got rejected an hour within my submission. That really hurt.

very savage - were your stats well below average or was it unexpected? i'd be mad if that happened to me lol, i'd feel like a human didn't even look over it and they could've saved me the 100 bucks if my stats were too lowI know typically first acceptances are sent out Oct.15.

*hug* I second TheBiologist's question- were you thinking that school was a reach or were you just blindsided?I know typically first acceptances are sent out Oct.15.

You can get rejected prior to secondary in some screening systems.

My stats were below average for that school (OOS public). But in my knowledge, machine screenings are pre-secondary. If they aren't interested in the applicant (whether if he/she is OOS or below MCAT/GPA cutoff), perhaps a secondary app shouldn't be sent.
What I am most frustrated about is that the rejection process took way sooner than I expected, and it was likely due to an auto-machine rejection (I submitted the secondary at midnight). They had unique prompts in their secondary essay which took me a week to write an edit. I am upset about the $$$ waste at that school, but even more upset because my time and effort spent on this school is rejected within an hour.
Anyway, seemed like my rant is off-the-topic. But a lesson is learned, and hope none of you would have to go through that process.
Which school, broseph
It could be that publics with very limited OOS seats are just waiting for the secondary to see if applicants have strong state ties. For most students without ties, it will be a very easy rejection that can't be made with the primary.First one I can think of was Nebraska for an OOS applicant. I'll update if I can remember the others.
What percentage of OOS typically matriculate to that school? That more than anything else, may have been the issue. There are quite a few state publics where an OOS application is nothing more than a donation to the school. Non-WWAMI's for UWashinton is a good example of this.My stats were below average for that school (OOS public).
I'm ok with 5 business days. But 1 hour after getting your money seems like fraud. In fact, I'd prefer the 5 business days to a silent rejection in May.I was rejected within 5 business days when I submitted my secondary and was fully complete at a school.
True that. Silent rejections suck. Like after paying my money for your secondary and writing essays, I'm not worth a "Sorry, no thanks" like wtf.I'm ok with 5 business days. But 1 hour after getting your money seems like fraud. In fact, I'd prefer the 5 business days to a silent rejection in May.
