Yeah, I know that when you go to log on it says:

"Submitted AMCAS applications will begin to transmit to the medical schools on or about June 21st, 2007."

But when I check my status after logging on it says:

"Application has been made available to the designated medical schools"

It has already, but the schools won't be downloading them for another week or two

I contacted one school about this and even though my amcas page says the same thing the school says it shows that my app is waiting to be processed. My guess is that this must be what it looks like to them until amcas releases the apps on the 21st.

So to clarify, All the AMCAS stuff won't be sent to schools until about June 21st? So as long as you got your AMCAS stuff and transcrips in by then you will be just as far along as the other students who submitted earlier? If so then :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I think that as long as your AMCAS application is verified by the 21st, you'll be just as far along as the other students. If you get your AMCAS app complete and transcripts in by the 21st, it'll be a bit longer before your app is verified and made available to med schools.

I think everyone who is verified by the 21st gets seen at the same time, which doesn't seem quite fair to those of us who stayed up all night to get the bloody AMCAS application done before June 5th.

How much longer would it take if I turn it in after June 21? I'm almost done, but I'm trying to get more people to look at my personal statement!!

Just for the record, last year I submitted my AMCAS on 6/30, and it was verified on 7/05. I don't know if this year will be different, but I thought that I'd post that to put some of you guys at ease.🙂

seriously, waiting to turn in your app until beginning/mid-july even won't count you out of med schools. geez. unless you have some extremely average stats or poor recs or something else that's a red flag, just do the secondaries that SDNers post in the meantime during the wait. most people who turn in their apps on june 5th or whenever AMCAS opened this years won't even get the early interviews they rushed for, they will be placed on hold or even without so much as this consolation, pushed back without getting notice for later and later apps that look more attractive or may even be rejected outright. you are by no means late and there really is no need to freak out about the 4? week delay between submission and med schools seeing your info. med schools if i remember correctly don't even officially declare or hand out acceptances til nov 15th (best case scenario) so there's a whole lot more waiting for you guys especially if sadly u get placed on hold, waiting lists, get screened secondaries, etc. even then there's more waiting post acceptance if you are lucky enough to get multiple for financial aid which i think the majority gets processed in april or so (???) so you've got many many months til you are official.
