AMCAS Qusetion: how do you list the "total hours" for Dean's List?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would put 0. I would also rethink putting it on there at all...dean's list is meaningless.

Hmm I heard putting Dean's list is okay? I just don't have anything else listed as an honor/award though i have been chosen for a couple selective programs.
Also I had never received a semester GPA lower than a 3.5, I just did not take enough graded credits for dean's list a couple semesters, so I thought that was a good point to add in.

Still take it out you think?

It probably won't hurt you, but it certainly will not help you.

I have a tendency to overanalyze, and I hypothesize that if an adcom sees that you thought dean's list was worth mentioning, they might think less highly of you. This is probably true of <1% of adcoms, but why risk it?

Nah. This is how they think: One of the first questions I was asked in my interview was "Do you think medical school is going to be hard?"

They assume nothing about you. They don't assume you know what you're getting into until you communicate that. Then they write that down and that's something they know about you. It's all about how you present it. Listing Dean's List is 100% fine if you say it right. Anything can be a negative if you say it the wrong way.

I agree with some of the people here. Majority of the students WILL have deans list on their application and it would not benefit nor hurt your application in anyway. While other awards and honors might help.

This is NOT something you want to point out. In fact, many students have taken an over-abundance of classes. Why? ….. they enjoy learning.
