I am attempting to do the coursework section of AMCAS and I am having issues with the "Year in School" section. In the video tutorial, they say that you should assign IB and AP credit to freshman year. I have 32+ hours of these high school credits. Thus, my freshman year in college will be considered my "sophomore" year, sophomore year will be "junior" etc. However, that would make me have 2 "senior" years since I will be in college for the full 4 years. I don't want it to look like I was in college for 5 years! Is anybody else having this problem? 😡

Despite any advanced standing, the first year in college is freshman year, no matter how many credits you come in with. Indicate classes you took in your first year as freshman. Second year as sophomore. Etc. etc.

I was also a "sophomore standing" when I entered college, but I was still a freshman by definition. Academic standing is only a reference concept to let students know how close they are to graduating and shouldn't be used to denote your year in school.

Yep. In the OP's case, your freshman year will have like 60 credits. Only 30 credits of it will have a grade listed.

Thank you!!! I like that so much better than having two "senior" years hahah.

Nothing wrong with a 5th year.
