I doubt anyone could objectively comment on that - after all, no one really knows why they do or don't get a residency position. But the following are considered issues..

-some programs will PREFER American IMGs because they don't have to deal with visa issues or English as a Second Language
- some programs PREFER foreign born FMGs because it is assumed that the reason an American citizen when abroad for medical school is because they couldn't get into a US school; whether true or not, there is such a bias amongst some

So, its really hard to say - depends on the personal biases of the PDs and faculty at the programs to which you apply.

Howdy, I am in the same boat (USIMG) and have assumed the worst. That is, that I will be placed on the bottom of any applicant list. There is no right or wrong about it. Just the state of affairs.

Anyway, you can't change where you went to school, but you can do everything else in your power to make a strong application. Research, board scores, externships and good LOR's. Focus on what you can control and not on the opposite.

Hope this helps
