I am getting conflicting information on amnestic MAC I have been told 1/3 MAC and also 1/2 MAC but cannot find it in the literature to support either, but I believe it to be 1/3 MAC

Can someone explain what level of base excess is considered dehydration? I was under the impression that a high base excess was considered dehydration not a base excess of -2 but an excess of -10 or greater? Is itr only a negative base excess that is inidicative of dehydration? I understood base excess to be strictly to amount of bicarbonate (base) needed or not needed to correct either acidosis or alkalosis?

Thanks,

Jacads

You obviously stumped everyone.

My idea of dehydration is a base deficit. I don't really have a negative number that I call dehydration though.

I'm not sure about the amnestic MAC level. I'll bet for most people it's even less than 1/2 MAC if the stimulation is minimal but I can't support that theory.
