I have been looking at some of the posts and it seems that people have a lot of time to study for step 1. My school gives 6 weeks which inlcudes vacation time if you want any. I just wanted to get an idea of how this compares with other schools.

we are only required to do 80wks of work during the 3rd and 4th year (which spans 104wks) so students can take up to 24wks to prepare for Step 1 and Step 2 if they want.

however, most people take 6-8wks for Step 1, and 2-3wks for Step 2.

My school is really flexible. I believe they provide 6-8wks of prep for Step 1, but if more time is needed they work with you.

As a Canadian student, I plan to study lightly during the school year and then put in a solid month or two of studying during the summer. I feel like our curriculum is much much weaker on pharmacology and microbiology than in the States/what's in the USMLE so I will probably spend more time on that than you guys.

Our school gives us about 7 weeks of vacation between 2nd and 3rd year, so it upto us when we want to take it. There were people who did it in 3 weeks and then there were people like me who waited till last possible minute :-D. Most took 5-6 weeks.

Essentially Ditto.
