Hey,

I wasn't sure where to post this and I know you guys are busy so ignore this if you guys are too busy studying. I was wondering how much time your school gives you off to study for the boards before you have to start rotations. I am a first year at a new osteo school and we were told we would get like 2 and half to 3 weeks next year. It seemed really short to me? We start rotations like June 11th or something next year. Just curious to what goes on at other schools and how you manage this if it is really this short a time.

We have 5 weeks between finals and the start of 3rd year... doesn't seem like much to me either.

2-3 weeks sounds rather short indeed. we get about 2 months between the end of MSII and the start of MSIII. most of our class is taking 3-4 weeks of total study time. although we had our path, pharm, and micro shelf exams right at the end of the year, and in my book that counts as board studying too.

We get 6 weeks total, but a lot of people take the exams after 4 full weeks of studying. The key difference between going to a school that gives more time versus less time off is studying during the semester and doing well on your second year classes. Our school advised to spend the first few months of the semester reviewing 1st year material, then after March reviewing second year. I think most of our class has been through first aid with lots of annotations and did about a third of Qbank.

Also - shelf exams help. We take NBME shelf exams in Physiology, Pharm, Path, and Behavioral Science the last two weeks of school. You end up studying first aid/BRS so well and in depth, that you dont need to devote as much to learning it during those next 4wks but rather reviewing. So don't stress out too much about the lack of time, just keep it mind and start studying earlier in the year for step.
