Hey guys/gals,

Not sure how many of you are familiar with AMSA - American Medical Student Association. They have a premedical membership option that comes with some pretty decent benefits such as:
-Subscription to their magazine (The New Physician)
-Discounted subscription to the New England Journal ($52 for 52 issues - 1 year)
-Discounts on Kaplan MCAT materials (including a free verbal edge)
-Hotel/car rental discounts

but the kicker (at least for me)

-Discounted student health insurance, which is tough to come by for those of us who aren't in a certificate/degree program and do not work full time. Hospital-only insurance in my home state is $181.00/month. I pay that only because the sports and hobbies I participate in put me at risk for injury. AMSA insurance, through United Health Care, is a little over $100/month for full fledged health insurance.

I don't work for AMSA or have any financial interest in them. . .I just know that health insurance is a source of stress for many people.

I hope this helps some of you out.

Tulane ACP applicants take heed...
