My fiancee and I are couples matching, and I had both of our ERAS applications open on my computer. We entered her LoR Slot Requests in one window, while my application was open in another window. I had already done mine a while ago, and the Dean's Office had already scanned in the letters. Somehow, when I submitted her slot requests, the names of some of her letter writers replaced the names of mine on my documents page. I then had scanned LoRs with incorrect names attached to them. Of course, you are not supposed to be able to change anything about a LoR slot once the request is submitted
I went to the Dean's Office today to sort this out. They can't delete or rename any of the slots. We wound up calling up the AAMC for a conference call, and they said it's a computer glitch that can happen when two separate ERAS applications are open on the same computer. I had to add brand new LoR slots, which were then scanned with the appropriate letters, and I will have to ignore the old ones with the incorrect LoR writers' names attached to them. I think I may now have the most LoRs in my Post Office of any medical student. I will just have to keep track of which ones are the correct ones, and ignore the rest. This mishap was minor, and the PDs would probably realize the names didn't match once they actually read the letters, but it makes you wonder what else could happen with this glitch.
Moral of the story: if for some reason two people want to work on their ERAS applications at the same time, use different computers.
