Hello guys, I need your advice. I am taking Human Anatomy w/lab ( Class started a week and a half ago) in undergrad and I feel like I am not studying correctly, I just feel pressured by the info. Yeah, this is not close to med school anatomy, but still am sure you can apply the same studying techniques. ( We dont work on cadavers in the lab, so this sucks) We only use models in lab. So guys, how can I study for Anatomy to Ace the class. I will be putting the time, the effort, just need the direction. What worked for you...Right now we are doing Skeletal System, Tissues, Joints....I will really appreciate your advice...

There's no secret. It's brute memorization. Get the Netter Anatomy Flashcards and go through them over and over and over. Go to the prosection lab and go through the structures over and over again.

I'm five months from starting my internship, and I still do this.

I commend you on taking Anatomy now, it will be very helpful down the road. I wish I had done it.

As Tired said, there's really no secret. I learn it all, as Tired says, by brutal memorization.

Try to learn what the common anatomical words in latin mean (that's if you learn the structures in latin, which I'm quite sure is the standard everywhere more or less), then you can learn everything easier.

Sometimes I use a word to associate with, or pictures, but in the end it comes down to cram it all in and hope that it stays there. Cram it in frequently, use the Netter Flashcards on the bus, in the gym etc. and repeat your knwoledge so that it won't get lost until you use it.

Thanks a lot guys... any other advice...

Agree with the prior posters. One thing some people find helpful is actually drawing the structures -- first copying, then from memory. This helps you get the relationships right. But it is very time consuming. And helps if you are artistic.
