Anesthesia procedures?

I was told by a senior surgery resident today that anesthesiologists are increasingly doing more "procedures". I gather he did not mean just pain fellowship trained docs, no? Wondering what sorts of "procedures" general anesthesiologists do.

Probably talking about an upswing in regional anesthesia procedures that some people do. Many anesthesiologists utilize TEE. Most do at least some regional as well as invasive lines. I would guess that complex airway management(Fiberoptic, lightwand, retrograde) would also be classified as a procedure. Ultrasound guided regional is fairly new and a lot of people are doing that. These are all things that our residents get trained in. These things may be what the resident was talking about. I am not sure I would say that people are doing MORE, maybe just a little different procedures.
