Hey everyone. I have some questions regarding anesthesiology/anesthesiologists but I am a pre med so take all my questions with a grain of salt as they are out of pre lack of knowledge.

I hear anesthesiology is not very difficult to match in to whether you are an MD or a DO, at the same time I hear it is the highest paying non-surgical specilaty and sometimes they make even more than surgeons, but at the same time not respected by all surgeons. Can someone clear up what the perspective on anesthesiology is? Im not trying to start a war or argument on here either.

Interventional radiology is likely the highest paid non surgical field. Like them, anesthesia pays fairly well, for now, because there is no low dollar clinic time.
If you score at least average on the USMLE with an MD, you should match somewhere. I don't know anything about DOs match difficulty.
Like all fields, there is some self selection which keeps out the really unqualified, so the match numbers (for MDs) are >90% now.
The surgeons are the ones that are bringing in the business which is paying me. We provide a service. Keep that in mind and you will be fine.
Good luck.
