Ok, I've read all about the tricks, the laptop, the bike, the back and forth. But, I still suck at it.

Can we deduce? I always look at the biggest angle first, if I cannot then I look at the smallest angle.

If 3 of 4 choices have 4 as the biggest, and 1 has 2 the biggest, does that mean that there would be very little chance that 2 is the smallest? Also, wouldnt it be the second largest pretty much?

Or can we NOT assume anything until we are sure that we have the biggest angle, then look for the smallest angle, then do the two remaining intermediates?

Ex:

2<1<3<4
3<1<2<4
3<2<1<4
3<1<4<2

The PAT and Quant is my nemesis. I do well in the sciences but these 2 have me stumped. Is using Bootcamp enough for the math and PAT? I have CDAT, the 5 version one, but that one seems easier than bootcamp.

Thanks. I need to pray to a PAT guru or something. I can do the hole punch, cube count, paper fold, but the angle and the TFE are killing me.

I wouldn't assume anything...

A lot of the tricks and techniques that work on practice material seems to not work on the real thing. (Line counting for example). There are patterns to answer choices in these practice materials and it might not be a good thing to rely on them.

The best way is to hone your perception and I don't know how else than to just keep doing angle ranking generator problems and http://woodgears.ca/eyeball/

The perceptual ability test is going to test your perceptual ability. The best way to beat it is to just do what it wants. There are little tricks here and there, but overall you need to be able to compare angle sizes for angle ranking. Don't assume anything just by the pattern of the answer choices. You can get good at it, anyone can beat the perceptual section with practice!

actually perceptual ability section tests your ability to accept that it's a c***suc*er section and practice until you're good
3 techniques i found useful for the angle ranking
1) laptop
2) looking at biggest/smallest angle and eliminate answer choices
3) if you can't tell which angle out of the 2 is bigger after eliminating biggest/smallest angles, mark it, finish other sections and go back to that question. you'll realize that it's much easier to spot the correct answer when you come back

LOL. Yeah I'll agree with that sentiment starnova. I don't know that damn laptop and biking up down the hill is a scratch sometimes. I think coming back to it is prob a good idea as I can see the mistake when I am reviewing the answer choice.

I always look at the answer choices first because sometimes the angles seem the same but the answer choices will tell you that only figures 2 and 4 could be the smallest but you might waste your time thinking that 3 was the smallest! The downside is that looking at the answer choices first can form biases in your mind where you will convince yourself of an answer just because of the order it comes up in the answer choices
