Out of boredom, I have been scanning Hulu plus tv show archive and found the NBC tv show called Animal practice. It's a show that aired last year but didn't do too well and gotten canceled (I believe). Anyway it's freaking hilarious! I'm surprised it didn't last long... Any of you guys watched the show before? What are your thoughts on it? Also what other veterinarian related tv shows if any that you guys like to watch or have watched??

I'll have to check that one out!!
I started a show on Netflix "Wild at Heart" but it got pulled before I finished it. That one is about a British vet who vacations in South Africa then stays and takes over an old practice! I'm so bummed that they pulled it, but I am still on the lookout!

I watched the first couple of episodes when it aired! I thought it was funny too!! I don't think it got too many viewers 🙁

That "Wild at Heart" shows seems interesting...Maybe I will watch that one over winter break 🙂

I'll discuss other vet-related shows too, which will help differentiate this thread from the previous one 🙂

Animal Practice had its amusing moments, but it wasn't real enough for me. So many laws and regulations were broken that it gave me headaches (stealing client owned animals, performing surgery without consent, I think there were others).

As far as other shows go, I watched the crap out of Emergency Vets when it was on the air. I also watched E-Vet Interns, which was a follow up show to that.
I'll also watch Animal Cops when it's on.

Boston Med and New York Med are human emergency room shows that are free to watch on Hulu. They are real life, so I like them even though they're about humans rather than animals. The workers there suffer through a lot of the same things that we do.

I am in a grumpy mood so will remind you to use the search function before starting a new thread.

animal + practice + NBC yielded this thread.

read that first, and then add your comments there.

There is a wealth of information from past years if we bother to look for it.
....I'm new on here so of course I haven't gotten the gist of navigating the site yet. 🙂 I will take your tone as trying to be helpful. Thanks for the advice and I will be sure to utilize it in the future.

Yes I only think it has only nine episodes. 🙂

Thanks! I know what you mean about animal practice, is really unrealistic but the comedy of it almost makes up for it. I loved emergency vets! I literally taped every show when I was a kid 😛! Have you watched Bondi Vet? It's a cool reality tv show plus a really hot vet being the star of it.

Yeah, I agree with you on Animal Practice. I left my brain at home when I watched it 🙂

Yessssss, I loved Emergency Vets. Animal Planet was seriously on my TV every single day. I have been watching Animal Cops more often now since I get up at 8 am. I wish they would air it in the evening. Is Emergency Vets on Hulu?

No it isn't! I wish it were 🙁

The only problem I have with Emergency Vets is that Alameda East is now very expensive compared to other area vet clinics in Aurora without being so significantly better than the other clinics. The vets there are very good, but not necessarily the best.

Emergency Vets was my favorite show when I was younger! My parents occasionally bring up how I would watch endless amounts of it. I wish it was still on television 🙁 There are not enough shows focused on veterinary medicine.

If it helps you out, you could picture him shaking a cane while reading his posts. The rest of us do.

I haven't seen Bondi Vet, but I just googled it and found seasons 4 and 5. I'll give them a try!

I agree! I wish they had more variety tv shows 🙁... Veterinarians don't get enough credit. I mean they are bad *** super Heros in our own way. Right? 🙂

Anyone know why they stopped filming Emergency Vets? I absolutely LOVED that show when I was younger and it makes me sad that it's not on anymore 🙁

I think I only watched the first episode of Animal Practice and it made me cringe. I know it was supposed to be funny, but like someone else said, it was so far off from what actually happens in an 'animal practice' it was sort of hard to watch.

I absolutely love Animal Cops, but it doesn't seem like its on as much anymore, even reruns. (Every time I put Animal Planet on, Tanked is on...):yeahright:

I do like watching Dr. Pol on Nat Geo Wild, but I know there's a lot of controversy over his "outdated, rural vet" methods. Regardless, I enjoy the show.

One other show I absolutely love, is called Inside Natures Giants. Sometimes its on tv, but there are a bunch of episodes on youtube. It's pretty much an anatomy/physiology/dissection show created by the RVC so it's legit. My favorite episode is the one on elephants.

I tried to watch Animal Practice. It wasn't funny to me. It seemed like it was trying really hard to be funny, but I could see all the jokes coming a mile away. I might have cracked a smile once or twice, definitely no laugh out loud moments.

I love "ER Vets" which is filmed at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Toronto. "Campus Vets" was an interesting one done at the Western College of Vet Med (the Canadian one, not the American one) awhile back. I liked it because in addition to cases, it also showed quite a bit of the students learning stuff for the first time. Way back when, there was one done at AVC called "Island Vets", but I haven't been able to find it except for a short clip. I saw something on Animal Planet a couple weeks ago; they were zoo vets doing neonatal check ups on giraffes. I don't remember what it was called.

Dr. Pol and the other vets that worked with him have actually been charged by their state vet board for this.... it really isn't much "controversy" as he is practicing unsafe medicine. The methods aren't "outdated"; they are just wrong..... you don't sedate a dog that has had trauma and then leave it in a kennel to "see" if it will recover. You also don't perform an enucleation on a brachycephalic dog without any type of monitoring, intubation, oxygen supplementation and you most definitely do not perform this procedure in a fashion that is highly not sterile. (And this is just from watching a single episode of that horrid show).

I started watching Bondi Vet on YouTube after I saw you mention it. It's pretty entertaining! Thanks for allowing me this new method of distraction the week before finals start 😉

OMG dear god NO!!! I can't believe bondi vet has spread overseas!!!

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

He is like, the better looking, slightly better at veterinary medicine version of doctor pol. I swear to god we do not let our average-at-best small animal vets work on all our endangered zoo animals. We do have kickass zoo and conservation vets for that! Eurgh so much is wrong with that show...

Bondi vet is actually literally the laughing stock of the Australian veterinary industry!

I only saw a part of one episode. It was the one where a dog (or dogs) got in a tangle with a porcupine (I think) and it was sedated to remove the needles. After completing the procedure, the doctor goes on to load the still sedated dog into the owner's truck bed. I couldn't believe what I was watching.

Sorry to derail the thread. Just had to comment.

I watch inside of natures giants! My favorite show was the racehorse episode (of course). The show is very informative. RVC is one of my top school choices whenever I apply in the next cycle or so (depending on how my stats look 😛).

Is "ER vets" and "campus vets" on YouTube?

Loved that show! Anyway, "Grimm" on NBC is not a vet show, but the main character's fiance is a vet 🙂 & I love the show.

I have to definitely check out "Grimm". A recent tv show, that's not vet or animals related, I just began obsessing over in order to keep myself from going crazy over the GRE is the "The Mindy Project" it's hilarious!
