hey all,
for step 1, annotating first aid throughout year 2 is a popular method, and it works well. is annotating first aid throughout year 3 also recommended for year 3? or should i just read first aid ck at the very end? any other study advice for year 3 and step 2 would be very helpful. 🙂

I've found that, compared to Step I, preparing for Step II has involved much less memorization of minutiae. I would not annotate First Aid for this test. Your time would be better spent doing extra practice questions for your shelf exams.

so should i just wait to buy the first aid step 2 book closer to test date? or is it worthwhile to read areas pertinent to each rotation during the rotation?

I think it would be useful to buy in advance so you can read the relevant chapter early in a rotation to get the key facts to help you on the wards before you do more in-depth shelf prep. This isn't that important though, since studying for the shelf is very much the same as studying for Step II.

One book to consider instead of First Aid for this purpose is Board and Wards, which is more portable and full of essential facts.
