I was supposed to shadow an OD today (private practice). She specifically told me to come today because I would learn more when it's busy. I got there on time, she said "Oh no, I can't have you today! I am too busy!" She asked me to come next Saturday because one of her assistants will be on vacation, she said I could help other people in the office. She didn't say exactly but I guess to answer the phone??? I'd love to have some shadowing experience but I am not sure if I'll be able to get what I want. Should I just ditch it or is it still worth to do? It takes me over an hour to get there. Any thoughts, please?

Hmm try calling more offices. Try shadowing a corporate location (target, Costco) and also doing a private prac! Good luck😉

You still don't know what's in-store for this particular optometrist until you have a chance to shadow. I suggest to try it one more time. When you have the opportunity to speak to her thru phone or in-person before the day of your shadowing, express what you want to get out of it. Because times with optometrist will truly give you the good and the bad (hopefully more of the positive side) of this field.
