Info Request via PM:

"I have been an employed pain doctor at a private practice for 10 years. Our practice is being taken over by our community hospital effective 12/31 and we are changing over to their EMR in early January. We were just told that we’re required to do 8 hours of training for the new EMR, and 5.5 of these hours are scheduled during my usual time off. I was just informed that I will not be compensated for this time in any way. What on earth??? Am I crazy or is this just ridiculous?"

Tell them you already have plans, and will need to schedule the training during regular working hours.

This is a widespread practice. I know many hospital employee physicians who had to do this. It is ridiculous....that we let hospitals that get filthy rich off of our services get away with this. In the words of Norma Rae - UNION.

We got time off during our work days with pay plus got paid to do the training. We also had the option to do it off hours if we didn’t want to interrupt patient flow in our offices.
