DAT is great
Upward trend should compensate for low GPA first few semesters
Research + publication should be great for Harvard
Dental experience needs to be amped up
Other EC's seem great

I think you've set yourself up for success overall.

Are you still applying to med school? On the application, you'll have to fill out whether you've applied to, or will be applying to, other programs.

During the interviews, they will likely want to discuss why you chose one over the other. Some schools seem hellbent on making sure the genuine interest in dentistry there. More than half of my experience was in the medical field, and I felt grilled during some of the interviews, though I've never applied to other programs.

Get your dental shadowing up. If you can get to 100 hours with general dentist you should add VCU to your list of schools. Looks like you're in good shape.

You're already a very competitive applicant. You have great shots at ECU and UNC given you keep your grades up.

Have you spoken with any adcoms at your in-state schools? If not, now is the time to do so; they can help answer questions and guide your action plan for your application this summer.

Good luck.

Only one publication? I really don't think you stand a chance.

No I haven't spoken to adcoms at my in-state schools but I definitely will! My # 1 choice is UNC right now.

Thanks for the responses, no I've never taken the MCAT and am not applying to medical school.

Would I have a chance at a school like Harvard? I know their average gpa is 3.8ish

You're very competitive and in great shape. Get your shadowing up a bit to meet the requirements for your schools, and you shouldn't have much to worry about. The upward trend in grades from the first semester will speak a lot.

Harvard has a strong research focus, and from what I recall requires their students to complete a research project as part of getting their degree. I would suggest increasing your research commitments a bit if you're strongly interested in such a school and want a great shot.
