hey man you'll get in, just be genuine on your apps and interview. you should be getting many interviews

Bro, you gotta work on that GPA. It seems like you only have 4.05/ 4.3

Luckily for you, you have about a year to bring up your GPA, so chop chop!

Guys, I don't think he/she is trolling. It is extremely competitive these in dental school these days. And with all the amazing applicant gathered on SDN, it can make ANY great applicant feel insecure about their GPA or DAT. This person is new and just wants an honest opinion.

I have similar stats and already received 5/8 interviews, you will be fine next year since you are submitting in june.

You'd think someone capable of a 4.0+ wouldn't be so stupid.

GPA - 4.05, SGPA - 4.06

TS/AA/PAT: 22/21/17
Bio: 21, Ochem: 23, Gchem: 22, RC: 20, QR: 19

EC's
- 200+ Hours Shadowing general dentist and OMFS
- 100 Hours Volunteering with special ed children at a school
- 3 Years coach of youth basketball team
- 3 Years volunteer tutor at school for biology and ochem
- 3 Years of elected leadership position in schoosl health professions club.
- 2 Years microbio research....no publications, but I have done two poster presentations at national conferences.

I go to a public school in California (not one of the more prestigious ones like UCLA or Berkely).

I'll be applying to 15 schools:

In the order of where I would like to attend:

1. Harvard ( A big reach, I know)
2. UCSF
3. UCLA
4. Penn
5. Columbia
6. Pacific
7. Maryland
8. Oregon Health Sciences
9. UNLV
10. Michigan
11. Tufts
12. Case Western
13. Tufts
14. NYU
15. USC

I will be applying NEXT summer, so I will have all aspects of my application ready to go as soon as possible when the next cycle opens. I have strong letters of rec from both science and non-science professors, a dentist, an OMFS, and teachers at the school I volunteer at.

What chances do you guys think I have at these schools (or add/delete others)....most specifically the ivies + UCLA/UCSF?

Thanks so much for your opinions !
Where's the humor you promised? 😕

You're in good shape. Best of luck.👍

While I love all the clever jokes about "Amazing stats but not being smart enough to realize your potential", honestly OP, you're sitting pretty. Just know that those Ivies, UCSF and UCLA are all a bit like roulette. Great stats are nice but there is a lot of luck and personality based stuff required to get into those places. Good luck for next year.
