Run a background check on yourself and see if your incident comes up as a DUI pleaded down, or just as reckless driving. If the former, then you will have to disclose that it was initially a DUI that was pleaded down.

I thought DUIs end medical careers? You may be able to apply to medical school and get in but you will never be able to recieve licensing to practice.

maybe it varies from state to state but idk. Maybe if you can get your records sealed then you might be able to get away with not disclosing it at all.

OP, on the Certephi background check it will specifically state you were charged with DUI and the conviction was dropped down to Reckless driving. Not only that but the background check will also state the days spent in jail and the days suspended by the judge. Certephi is on top of it's game and It is best and highly advised to be completely honest to the medical school. A DUI is NOT the end, it's just a bump in the application that will definitely hurt you but at this point only time and honesty will heal all wounds.

Multiple DUIs might end a medical career but definitely not one. Common sense dictates that if an individual was NEVER able to receive a license to practice, the medical school would not accept him and spend so much time and energy in training that medical student. There have been multiple students that have been accepted to medical school with DUIs and received licenses.

Send me a pm. I have some experience with this sort of thing (and was admitted to several programs).

This is certainly not true, a single DUI will not prevent you from being licensed in the vast majority of states (possibly in all of them).
