I'm really growing grey hairs over my organic class. The teacher is really old, and hard of hearing, so it makes asking questions impossible. He also has a nasty habit of giving us information that would have been crucial to know for an exam after the exam. My morale is just low today, anybody else can't wait to get organic chemistry over with?

seconded. only my prof teaches well but his exam was 15 ******* pages long. i can't wait to get out of this class.

I like Orgo... 😀 It's my easiest class.

I don't care for the Oxymercuration/Deoxymercuration Reactions tho', ugh. I wanna throw my textbook out the window everytime I see it. 😡

Do we have the same professor?

I'm right there with you. Just stick with it, it will all be over soon.

I hope so. Really the semester is almost over.

I hated orgo with a flaming passion. A refined, flaming passion. We made up songs about it, generally to the tune of "I Want Candy"

Don't give a **** about isomers,
Don't want to deal with S or R,
Don't really care about Markovnikov,
Don't give a *&^$ if this last line rhymes.

Iiiiii hate O-Chem!
Iiiiiii hate O-Chem!

and so on...

I love orgo. However, I did get this awful professor for it the entire year I had to take it. He basically let his TAs write up the exams, while not requiring them to attend his lecture at all. There were always a lot of confused faces during those evening exams

I heard he got fired a semester after I completed the course 👍

I like orgo 😀 Don't worry, the semester will end and all will be well again.

Organic took a lot of work, but in the end it felt like a major accomplishment - the same for Introduction to Biochemistry and Biochemistry: Metabolism. It'll all be over soon. =]

Anyone else get the feeling that going through organic chemistry is like some rite of passage for premed students?

At Pitt we called it "Pre-business". Seriously, there was a 33% attrition rate for O-Chem 1, and the number of pre-med to marketing majors skyrocketed.

don't worry, it'll get better! yeah organic 1 is pretty tough, i thought, but don't sweat it cos orgo 2 is much easier.

Orgo orgo orgo, lol in fact I had orgo earlier, my professor is fantastic, I don't know, orgo has that "je ne sais quoi" that seems to annoy everyone!

I am tired... had a long day, maybe I should come back on that thread!

Take Orgo during the summer at Harvard, that way you can never go to class, study 7 nights over the course of the summer (6 exams + final) and get an A. 😀

Did you have Logan?

I love ORGO... I am a TA and I don't know why I love it so much... I get so frustrated with my kids all the time because they simply don't put effort into the class... plain and simple... I know because the very basics from the book aren't even answered and it is rediculous... .

What I hated about Orgo is that appartenly while I was using every molecule in my brian to get an A in that class I was slipping in my Physics one and ended up with a B+... OUCH>>>> I was peeeved about that... freaking finals were on the same day and we had and ACS org final...

Organic chemistry is voodoo witchcraft. All of its mechanisms can be reduced to two steps:

1. Hocus
2. Pocus

Occasionally, however, you can catalyze the reactions with Philosopher's Stone and magically get your product in one.

I loved orgo. It was so conceptual compared to, say, biochemistry.

ROFL!
Funny today I wrote in permanent marker "Orgo" with a cross through it on my notebook while sitting in lecture.

I think the thing I hate most about Organic is my teacher. The different reactions, or especially the ones we carry out in labs are interesting to me. I just have a difficult time with his exams. For instance the very first exam seemingly had nothing to do with anything that was discussed in lecture.
