Hi All,
So I think I need to do at minimum 6 months of medicine prior to starting a neuro residency during the prelim year...Does anyone know if these HAVE to all be inpatient? If I could get inpatient family med to count, that'd be even better.
So I'm psych-- but like neuro. Beyond the logarithmic decline in my recollection of neuroanatomy, the biggest hurdle is going to be that I will only have completed 4 months of IM (half of which is OUTpatient) and 2 months of inpatient neuro during my PSYCH intern year.
My fantasy is that I could get six months of credit toward that prelim year...This would surely be hairy at an advanced program- unless -the PD were to be chummy with the IM dept and they'd let me finish off some medicine, doubt that though.
Someone on this forum once made this same switch and got credit for 6 months of their psych intern year.
Moral support much appreciated! I've seen PLENTY of psych on inpatient neuro (and I'm not just talking pseudoseizures), so I hope my training will at least be somewhat useful IF I can make this happen.
