Sorry if this has been asked before, couldn't find any information using the search function. What is the general consensus regarding interview offers? If you don't hear from a program once they send their initial offers out, is it assumed that you shouldn't be hearing from them at all?

Congrats on all those receiving interviews thus far. I'm still waiting for the floodgates to open.

Not at all. Many programs will send out bulk invitations to fill their interview slots. Obviously not all of these are accepted by candidates. Applicants are a nervous bunch and usually over apply to make sure they get enough interview offers. There are always conflicts which may prevent a candidate from interviewing, and once all of the offers start coming in and travel expenses add up people begin deferring on interview offers. This usually leads to a second round of offers to fill open slots.

If there is a particular program you are interested in that has not offered you an interview get in touch with the program coordinator (secretary) who is often times if not in charge, highly involved in interview invitations. Stay in touch and when an interview slot opens up the greasy wheel may get the grease. This has been said before, but get in the door and then the ball is in your court.

Thanks Carm, appreciate the advice! I'll keep my head up and see what comes of it.
