Another question on when to apply...

Hi all, so i was planning on applying as early as possible (early june), however, i realized now that my grades for this quarter won't be out until june 25. my problem is that even with this quarters gpa, my culm and sci gpa will not improve very much, however i am retaking a bio course this quarter (which i recieved a C- in) and i figure it would be good for dental school to see that i retook it. my question is, should i go ahead an apply early...then when i get my new grades do an academic update? im not sure how long academic update will take or if its very efficient...or should i wait til the end of june and apply then? any feedback would be very appreciated, thanx!

i think applying at the end of june is still early. i applied in late july and still got all my interviews before dec. 1.

apply early! apply early! apply early! do not wait until the end of june. just tell your schools that you are retaking that bio class...because if you apply end of june then you are already behind the people who have applied in may and june.

so absolutely if your stats are shaky(and even if they're not), best to apply in may and call the schools and tell them you're retaking the bio class.

Thanx for the reply you guys, and congrats on getting into your schools. Yea, i think applying early would be good, but another thing is im taking 4 bio classes this quarter (including the retake). so although my culm may not move up, my science might benefit from it. How does academic update work? is it fast? or is it like submitting your app all over again?

i didnt do academic update so im not sure about it, but i still have an email from AADSAS about it:

These are additional instructions for individuals who wish to participate in the Academic Update of their AADSAS applications.

1. Go to the Coursework section of your application.
2. Select "Add a New Completed Session".
3. Enter the institution information as instructed
4. Enter the recently completed coursework as instructed, review for accuracy and save.

You may also want to enter the "Planned-In Progress" coursework session, delete any coursework you have converted to "Completed" and make any modifications to the remainder of your "Planned-In Progress" courses.

Be sure to submit your completed information before exiting your application. AADSAS will begin processing your updates as soon as we receive your re-submitted application and official transcripts reflecting the updated coursework.
