The DO doc that I am scribing for said she might take 2-3 weeks to write the letter of rec, should I wait until then or submit the primary app now?
Or should I even bother applying at this point? since it's already mid-October..

3.55 GPA

generic EC
excellent letter of rec

It is a little late in the cycle, but you have very competitive stats for DO school. I would go ahead and apply now (ASAP). Just apply broadly and I think you will be fine. The LOR can still be added to your application after you've submitted it.

Thank you for your answer! I am aware that it's different for each person, but would you say 10 schools are broad enough?

You should be fine. A lot of schools require 2 letters from science teachers (varies from school) as well. I am not sure how long the verification process takes at this point but from everything I can find you still should be in good shape.

I think 10 schools is the minimum you need to maximize your chances. 15 would be even better, of course.

If you are limited to the number that you can apply to then I'd suggest avoiding the state schools in the states you don't live in which have a large state preference.

No and NO! with your stats you are safe to apply right now and still have a great chance at success. There are VERY FEW state schools when it comes to DO schools. Most of them are private with little emphasis on regional bias. Your stats will break down most of the biases for DO schools. Go ahead and apply, but make sure you have that letter in ASAP.

Apply immediately. To every school.

I have very similar stats (3.6/505) and received 6 interviews, I did apply early but I think you will be fine. Definitely apply to the new schools: ACOM, VCOM, and ARCOM all seemed very interested in our range of stats. I would skip CCOM and DMU, I don't know if it was something else about my app other than my stats but they both seem very uninterested haha. Good luck!!

+1 for applying, if you have the funds. You may need to reapply too.... I'd say it's about a 50/50 chance right now, probably less.
