I told myself I'd never do this, (by this I mean ask advice from random strangers on the internet) but I have a vs. dilemma I never expected. Got accepted at both Creighton (in-state, but doesn't change cost since it's private) and Iowa. I'd be OOS for Iowa, but I've been offered a scholarship that would offset OOS tuition cost and make it close to IS tuition, which ends up making it the cheaper choice by about 50k over the course of 4 years. Is that amount of money saved worth moving away from family/friends? Which school is better in your opinion?

Creighton, 50k over 4 years isn't much when considering that you'll be close to family and friends.

If you think that you can't survive without being very close your family and friends, you should probably go to Creighton. Keep in mind that those schools are only four hours apart though, so if you really want to see friends and family, a quick weekend trip isn't out of the question. As far as which one is better, I don't think there's a clear choice in most dental school comparisons. I've heard good things about both schools, and both will get you your degree.

50k over four years is probably closer to 65k over four years after loan origination fees and interest. You could end up paying $500 more a month for 15-20 years over the life of your loan repayment. I would do the math yourself though.

I'd pick Iowa.

Pick the cheaper option. You also just live once, why not experience another part of the country?
