Hey guys, I have been conflicted recently as I have an interview coming up. I just wanted to ask whether I should just answer interview questions straight up or whether I should expand on my answers. When I was initially practicing for my interview all my answers were expanded and some were really long. However, recently I have been told to just answer the question and get right to the point. Any help would really be appreciated

Answer the question straight up. Look the interviewer in the eyes. If they look interested or curious expand. Keep looking at them in the eye. If they look disinterested start finishing.

Keep it short and concise. 1 to 2 minutes max a response. Anything longer, your interviewer attention span will wander and they will forget what you just said.

This is true. Read the interviewer's body language. I can tell when someone is not that interested in what I'm saying or is not convinced with what I said and from there I know if I should expand or cut my answer short. But generally I like to keep my answers short and to the point. Also, often if the interviewer wants you to expand on something you mentioned they will ask you directly.
