Anti-protozoals/helmithics?

MEBENDAZOLE

I don't think parasitic infections (besides malaria) are too high yield. We don't see diseases like leishmania here. Atleast thats what Kaplan says. From what I remember from lippincotts Mebendazole treats everything. I'm willing to guess on these questions if it means I can commit more memory ''space'' to pathophys

there is a page on it in 2011 FA. But I agree, it is pretty low yield compared to other stuff. might get one question on it if you're lucky (or unlucky i guess).

Yeah it's there in FA...

I think I'll just put down "metro" for those questions!

Be careful if you're just skimming this info...nifurtimox was on my Step 1. This was on a chart in the FA micro section (2010).

Wow. Was it a T. cruzi related question or did it go so far as to ask about the mechanism?

Yea Im really curious too. In 2011 first aid they actually have the mechanisms now. Did they ask which drug or the mechanism too?

See this is why I ask you guys. I've been studying out of FA 2010 and it doesn't have this antiprotozoan/antihelminthic page. Just photocopied it from a copy of 2011 in the library.

Thanks!

Is the page in 2011 first aid different than what is on pages 161-164 of 2010 first aid in the treatment boxes for anitprotozoal/antihemlminthic's?

No, they've added a page of anti-parasitic drugs in the "Antimicrobials" section

Those pages are the same, but now at the end of the micro section is an entirely new page with the MOAs for all the drugs mentioned.
