ok, so here is my question, when thinking about this list of antibiotics I present, what are KEY bugs to remember, one or two MAXIMUM, i cant memorize 10 bugs per freaking drug, please help, here is the list, I have put my guesses from class on here, please add, or modify, this will be helpful to all of us, again, only 1 or 2 KEY per drug/ drug class
Aminoglycosides--
Tetracyclines-- intracellular bugs ?
erythromycin- legionella, mycoplasma?
The macrolides (clarithromycin, azithromycin)--- mycoplasma, leigonella?
Clindamycin-- anaerobes above and below diaphragm?
Chloramphenicol- bacterial meningtitis?
Sulonamides- UTIs?
Quinolones-- pseudomonas?
Good old generic penicillin--- its so broad, but what are 1 or 2 KEY?
Nafcillin, methicillin--- staph?
Amoxicillin/Ampicillin--- enterococci, which one specifically?
Ticarcillin/carbenicillin/Pipercillin-- Pseudomonas?
Cephalosporins--- ?
Vancomycin-- MRSA, and pseudomembranous collitis?
