Here are my anticipated reactions to match results for my neuro advanced positions match on March 19th:

#1: Yeah baby! This is so awesome. I am genuinely looking forward to some of the best years of my life! 😀

#2/#3: Not bad. I reasonably satisfied with this result. There are significant pluses and minues to this program, but everything should work out.🙄

#4: Hm. It's hard to say how this is going to work out. I guess I'll hope for the best. 🙁

#5-11: ****! ****! ****! This is ********. ****! 😡:scared:

Unmatched: "Excuse me sir. Would you kindly point me in the direction of the nearest bridge."

How do you anticipate reacting to your match results?

I had a nightmare last night that I matched with my choice #8 and it turned out to be advanced program... and I had no prelim. So I experienced my horror reaction already and noooooot looking forward to facing it again 🙂

It was an honor to interview everywhere I got an invitation. That being said I would have been ecstatic with either my #1 or #2, happy with #3, and fine with #4-#9 though at that point some places started to have some drawbacks. I really would have had to get down to #15 or so before I was really, really disappointed.

When accepting interviews it's probably important that people go to enough places that they would be happy with at least 1-5. It's a numbers game and some bad breaks here or there can easily knock you down into 5-10 if you are interviewing at competitive places.

I matched at #1 so it was a happy day. What a great feeling after such a long journey. I think a lot of people end up matching at one of their top 3 so I bet there were a ton of happy folks on match day (vs. some crazy field like derm where you have no idea where you will end up),
