a family friend called me up today to ask my oppinion on her daughter
58 yo female with cerebral palsey
became depressed, probably because, she is not married has no kids, never drove, and just lives with her 83 yo mother
her mother called me because her psychiatrist is tx ing her with abilify and seroquel. She is not psychotic, manic etc...nor does she have dementia, although slow she is with it, and oriented
she has become very lathargic and looks druged
i told her that the seroquel can cause this since it binds to H1 receptors.
but any reason why the doc would choose to tx her with these drugs and not run through the ssri's
does her having CP play a role in the tx plan?????
may there be a better option??
