Third year medical student here trying to put together a plan for next year. Quick run through on my app, DO student 637 comlex step 1 237 usmle step 1 step 2 to be determined. Just outside top 25 percent of class can probably make it by next year. We do grades instead of p, hp, and h and so far straight a's for third year in IM, surg, and psych with family, ob, and peds still pending. No research. Usual volunteer work on app. I want to be in the chicagoland area family, friends, and girlfriend there. There's only one DO residency in illinois and taking out rush, u of c, and nw that leaves loyola, uic, cook county, st. francis, masonic advocate, and also nearby wisconsin programs like st. lukes. My question is do i have a decent shot at matching in the area or is it more feasible to count on my backup internal medicine? Anybody want to provide any insight? Thank you

As a 4th year going into rads from your school, I think you have a decent shot at matching in the area. Feel free to PM me. We usually have an event with the rads club in April once we all match which I think would also be really worthwhile to attend. We have a good number going into rads from my class this year, so you should be able to get a lot of good info and advice.
