Hey guys so to make the long story short, I basically got kicked out of my research lab and now I'm stuck on deciding what class I should take. Pretty much the only class that's open is this 3 unit Intro to Science/Math teaching course offered at my school and it is under the school of biology so I'm guessing it would qualify for my BCPM calculation. There is another upper div Bio course I would love to take but I'm kind of worried that it would be too demanding since I'm currently studying for the MCAT and I'm already enrolled in two other Science courses so pretty much I guess that Intro to Science/Math teaching would only work out for me but I don't know, would the adcoms think unfavorably of this? I plan on applying this coming cycle. Thanks for your time everyone!

It don't understand why it would be unfavorable. Sounds like you are a busy person, go ahead and do it or don't take an extra class at all. No big deal.

i think THIS is your problem ...not whether taking some class with a complete BS name will look bad!!

I wouldn't take the upper division Bio class unless you knew for sure you could get a good grade. If you must take another class, take the intro to science class. I don't think it would really matter if you took it.

Well since I'm dead set on pursuing a career in Medicine, I'm just thinking maybe the adcoms will be like "What's he doing taking taking an introductory course to Science/Math teaching?" But I don't know.

Yea I know it's completely my fault but I just have to move on. It was pretty much time issues and I just couldn't seem to balance out research, studying for the MCAT, school and the other extracurricular activities that I'm involved with.

Well if you were having some time issues with that, I would either take that intro class or take nothing at all rather than risking a low grade in the upper div. bio class. are you interested in taking the intro to science/math teaching class at all?

Yea I'm definitely interested. It seems pretty fun since they require 25hrs of field work in some of the elementary schools they're affiliated with. Also, you do get graded units.

well then there you go- do what you'll enjoy and have time for 🙂

go with the intro to bio teaching course. If asked, say you are interested in teaching. But if you find the upper division bio course intersteing, then take it; usually if you think its intersting, you'll proally do well. Something tells me that the bio-teaching course may involve writing papers...check into this before deciding as it may eat up time from mcat studying
