any advice on how to kick butt in these subjects or just general approach, it feels like I have tried just about everything, reading big robbins, doing the Robbins Review Q's, and I am barely getting through, (last test was 73)thanks

Try to get a hold of old exams. Unfortunately, too often school exams test minutae. So reading Robbins diligently may not help you.

I did well in path when I took it because I read, and reread, and reread my class notes so many times that I could literally visualize them when I took my exams.

I used Robbins as a reference. I'd read it to fill in the blanks when my class notes didn't give me enough of an understanding. I actually used Baby Robbins more than I used pappa Robbins! Robbins review is an excellent question source for step one, but it may not be so great for school exams (once again because of minutae 😡 ).

My approach to micro was the same as my approach to path. However, I did tend to use a text more in micro. I used Ridiculously simple for micro. I was able to use the text in this case since the micro shelf was my final exam. The only faculty administered exam was the midterm. I never once looked at the micro course notes after the midterm since MMRS was perfect for the shelf.

As an aside, if your school administers shelf exams, I would highly recommend using the relevant sections in first aid as a final review of the material (go through it right before you take the shelf). I still cannot get over how useful this method was when I took the pharm shelf. Unfortunately, the pharm shelf was the only test that I did this for.
