Ive never had a job in this field at all, so its all new to me

i didnt want to work while in pharm school, as Im starting my first year at lecom next week, its like 19 creds a trimester

but then since so many clinical experience hours are required in order to sit for the boards, I decided I might as well start to knock them off

I got an interview with CVS, is there any advice I should follow?

what type of questions should I expect?

and he said the 2nd half of interview is for me to get to know them, so are there any questions in specific i should ask, or just discuss general stuff like how things are done at a CVS pharm?

any help is appreciated

I had an intern job interview 2 weeks ago with CVS. My impression was that they were very willing to give anyone interested a place in one of their stores as long as the person was friendly and a competent learner. The interview was very laid back. It was in the pharmacy waiting area and took about 20 minutes. We just chatted about what pharmacy experiences I had, where I was from, what college I went to. I'd say the major questions are how many hours you are looking to work and when you are available to work. Be familiar with the experiences you put on the application.

Everyone I've talked to has said that working while in pharmacy school allows you to apply what you are learning, which helps with retaining the information. Plus it's always good to gain experience. Our professor told us that, from what he has seen, people who work during school are more likely to pass the boards than people who don't work.

Hmm questions to ask them...Maybe how busy the pharmacy is? Since you say that you've never worked in a pharmacy before, for reference, 500 scripts a day is very busy and 100 per day is quite slow.

Good luck with the interview. Let us know how it goes!

thanks for the reply

I appreciated all the info

one more thing, do they ask for how much $$ Im looking for? (cuz I hate that question)

and #2, if I say between 10-15 hours a week, is that too little?

how long did it take after the interview before they offered you the job?

It was 1 week between interview and job offer.

that was an absolute waste of time

they had 9 spots open, but apparently, 7 people in the incoming class were CVS pharm techs in different parts of the country, so those 7 people are already part of the family, and hence, get first dibs, hence, 7 spots taken up right there.
they said they had 2 spots open, plus a few more might open up in Nov....I doubt i get any of those spots, 2 spots for over 100 intereted people? odds are bleak....shouldve just told me this over the phone and save the me the 2 hour drive to go get interviewed😡

that is frustrating,

sorry

didn't you say you are going to USN? CVS has a cap? I work for them now thru sav-on conversion and I just applied and got a job last year no problem. You drove 2 hours to where? in LV? Maybe I am confused if your in LV, but I could maybe help you find a job if you are.

no, Im going to school in Erie, and I live about 2 hours away

and they only have certain spots for interns, b/c state law says that one pharmacist can only have 2 interns with him or her

oh, sorry, must have been confused. well, goodluck finding an intern job. it's not like that at all back here- lots of jobs to go around

If you're an intern, do you have to work for the company the entire year? Or, can you just work for the summer? Would you have to re-apply if you want to work there again for the next summer? Thanx!
