I don't know if this is the place for this but I could use some support from people that understand, I can't turn to my friends for this.
I had my first interview about a week ago and am now waiting on a response. I am so anxious right now, I'm sure you all know the feeling. It doesn't help that it was my #1 choice. I came in feeling alright and somewhat confident. Everything went well as far as I know, but I still feel a lot less confident.

I have a lot of anxiety right now and just really want to get into this school. Any tips? How do I get through this?

Best advice I can give: distract yourself! Fill your down time with anything you enjoy: painting, working out, walking the dog, reading, etc! Try to keep it to things that require a bit of attention though. If you’re just watching tv or something, your (or at least my) mind tends to wander back toward anxious thoughts. Try to accept that you’ve done everything you can at this point. As they say, only worry about things you have the ability to change!

I understand it’s easier said than done though. I waited about 8 months to find out if I got accepted to my program, and it was brutal. I just dove into my hobbies to try to keep my mind off it. Stay positive- you made it to the interview stage for a reason! You got this!

Hi there! I understand what you're going through, I also recently had my first interview to one of my top choice schools and am currently (and anxiously) waiting on a response. I just decided to go the PT route recently so I also feel that I'm lacking in some areas, including clinical experience. I agree that distracting yourself would probably be the best strategy at this point, and try to stay as optimistic as possible. They thought you were worth an interview so that in itself is an accomplishment!

Thanks for responding. Good luck to you, hope you get accepted to your top choices!

Thank you for the advice and positive words! I'll try my best to stay occupied.

P.s. Wow 8 months!? That's insane!

You have done your best. Now you just have to sit and wait. Maybe forbid yourself thinking about it at all since nothing can be changed at this point anyway. maybe allow yourself to check you email for possible interview results once a day only and then switch your thoughts to something pleasant.

Thanks for the advice. I'm doing pretty well at putting my focus elsewhere.
