any advice on my situation

Hi.

I am sorry to post this again,
but I didn't get a very clear answer and I am still very much in dillema.

My situation
I will have total GPA 3.3 and science GPA 3.15 after this spring semester.
I took DAT last summer and received AA 21, TS 20, PAT 17.

My two issues are

1) whether to complete application in May or in August - I will be taking summer session to bring up my GPA and I didn't know whether I should complete my application in May or complete it in August to have my summer grades counted.
- As people provided advice on this, I am very leaning toward finishing application in May and send out my summer transcript afterwards. But if anybody has different advice, it would be appreciated.

2) whether I should retake DAT
- This, I am not still sure about and still very pondering about
People advised me that my DAT is ok and retaking is probably not needed.
But considering Columbia as my first choice school, my DAT is just about borderline and I know that Columbia gives great weight to DAT.
I could squeeze time between spring semester and summer session to study for DAT or I could retake it at the end of August or in early September. If I give great efforts to it, I think I can pull it up to 22 or 23.
My question is is it worth to retake DAT?
I would really appreciate any advice on this one.

You already posted this before and people gave you their advice. I would expect a sensible person to think about the options in light of your goals and all the info gathered. People already told you to apply in May, and you said you are leaning toward that. What the frig else do you want. For someone to come and convince you otherwise? Child frigging grow the hell up! 😡

You said Columbia will require a higher DAT, did you get this info from the school? If not call them and get their take on it. If they do require something higher and it's your first choice, for God's sake take the initiative, get the hell off this forum and go re-register or whatever it is you need to do to get another DAT score.

You need to learn to THINK for yourself. All you will get here are individual opinions --that usually help. Call the schools for specifics, use that thing in your head called a brain, talk to family and friends and get your $hit together! 😡

Apply in May, honestly a summer's worth of courses is not going to greatly affect your GPA.

On the DAT, why not retake it? 17 on the PAT is not incredible, but if you can pull 22's on every section, that would only bolster your application even more!

First off, apply early (May) then worry about getting the summer grades to your schools in Aug. You can allways send them directly to the schools (infinitely faster then AADSAS!)

Next, DAT: Your DAT is good and will definitely get you into A dental school. If you are aiming higher then I suggest calling the school of your choice and asking what they think is competative. Retaking the DAT costs $ and can be a risk if you jack it up. If you are confident you can get a 23 and are lookn at schols like PENN, CU, UCLA, UoP, etc then go for it. Your GPA is good, but not great. You might need that 23 or 24 DAT to even it out.

Believe me, this whole process sucks balls!!! It would have been so much easier if I had stellar stats. If I had to do it again, I would have studied harder for the DAT and done things a bit different.

aadsas allows you one academic update. i would apply in may and then do the academic update after your summer session. this means you wont get to update after fall grades, but hopefully you are already interviewing by then and wont need to.
