I recently finished undergrad back in December but I wasn't comfortable with my grades to go ahead take the MCAT and apply to medical school. I've decided to pursue a Master's degree in Anatomy and then apply.....Does this sound like a good idea to anyone? I fell in love with Anatomy when I took the course in undergrad but I really really want to be an M.D.!!!!!! Any advice??????

Alot depends on the other aspects of your application. i.e. volunteering, shadowing, leadership, life experience, GPA and MCAT scores. If you have some of the extras that make you unique and a gpa above 3.0 at a minimum, then perhaps it will work, also rock the masters degree.

I've shadowed docs from 6 specialties, I volunteered as a tutor for a public library I even did some tutoring of my own for free in Gen Chem and Org Chem, I traveled to South Africa to learn about their healthcare system and what's being done to curb the HIV/AIDS epidemic I've done quite a bit I've got some good EC's like I stated previously I love Anatomy though and a Master's Degree is something that I would like to do in that subject I'm just wondering would that help or harm me as I pursue my dream of becoming an M.D.?

You said you weren't comfortable with your grades. If that's true, then doing a masters in Anatomy is a big mistake. Med schools don't care about a Master's GPA unless it's an SMP where you take the first year of med school classes. Otherwise, they look at only undergrad grades. If you want to improve your grades for your application, take more classes and boost your undergrad GPA. A Master's is a waste of time and money.

agreed... do a post-bac or take more undergrad classes somehow. the masters won't help you at all with your GPA problems.
