Any advices from people previously accepted at a residency or internship ? Esp. if you were a foreign graduate.

I don't mean to take over your thread, but could anybody who's been through the match also chime in about who you asked for letters of recommendation from. Specifically, is it okay to have one of your rec's come from a previous veterinary employer? Or should they all be from vet school clinicians? Thanks!
Sorry for being un-specific 🙂
I have never been to USA/Canada, and I did not go through the steps of ECFVG. Therefore, I was asking whether is someone here passed through a similar situation.
Also, I want to know is there any specific points in the personal statement should I take care of ?
Is there any info/experiences about the acceptance rate through the VIRMP ?
Thanks in advance 🙂
What type of advice are you looking for?
My letters came from the dean of research, a professor at a medical school with whom I did summer animal model projects, and a pathologist/clinician. So definitely a mix. Pathology doesn't go through the match, it's one if those unique ones along with lab animal med, but I imagine for LoRs it is similar. As long as the people writing them can attest to your ability to do well in the program you are applying to. Better a stellar letter from a previous employer than a lukewarm one from a clinician.
Hm. Well that complicates things because as far as I know, many individual programs in the VIRMP require ECFVG, PAVE, or the NAVLE in order to apply. It does vary by institution so you'd have to check with the individual programs. They usually have it listed on the program description. So you'd need to take care of that first. Are you looking at internships or residencies? Many residencies either require or highly prefer an internship beforehand.
