Any APPIC/CAPIC assessment internships still available?

Greetings everyone,
I know I'm late to the party but I just passed my preliminary defense tonight which was the last hurdle to cross to allow me to advance to doctoral candidacy.

In 2 days I will be completely done with all my doctoral coursework.

I'm simply wondering if anyone knows of any assessment (neuropsych would be best) sites that might still be taking a pre-doc intern?

I'd post all my credentials but at this stage I'm simply trying to see if there are any available still. I'm willing to relocate anywhere if it's the right fit.

Thank you.

I haven't heard of any, but definitely check the APPIC website post-match vacancy site (here: http://www.appic.org/Match/PostMatchVacancyService/CurrentListofAvailablePositions.aspx) for lists of current positions. Personally, I'd recommend just anticipating that you'll go through the formal match cycle later this year/early next year. But hey, you never know what you might find available.

Just keep in mind that neuro sites in particular tend to be fairly competitive, so the odds of one popping up at this point are likely pretty small, and you'll likely be competing against some very well-qualified applicants. But again, you never know what might be (or become) available, and you never know how you'll do unless you apply.

This. There's unlikely to be much left at this point, especially in neuro and especially APA (which you'll want if going into neuro, IMO). You can look, but your best bet would be to apply next cycle (starts in November).

Thank you both for the info. It's worth a shot to see what's out there.

I'm curious to know what you all would do if you were in a professional school: Wait a year for APPIC and hope for a well matching internship, but let that 150k+ compound for an extra year, or try to just get whatever you can that's left now? Ahh, the decisions of a prof. school student.

Honestly, the ramifications of completing a non-accredited internship could outweigh the costs associated with that compounding interest. It partly depends on what your plans are post-internship (e.g., private practice vs. university vs. AMC vs. VA); if you're thinking of going the post-doc route, which is your best bet if you're neuro, then an accredited internship is going to be a very, very good thing to have.

Many of the places that offer a formal repayment program (there are a few different kinds) will require the person come from an APA-acred. program and usually at least an APPIC member site if not APA-acred. site.
