...STUTTER/STAMMER? Hi everyone, this is my first post at SDN, and I am applying this cycle. However I stutter a little and this worsens when I am more nervous in situations like interviews...any advice for interviews, if I receive any? I have a 3.75 and a 20AA on my DAT.

Thanks in advance!

practice, practice, practice.

yeah, I would just practice the general questions, before you go in. If your stuttering is minor, I would not really worry about it too much..it will probably go unnoticed.:xf: Best of luck!

Yea...same thing I would recommend practicing the answers to popular interview questions in front of a web cam *[to an extent, don't end up giving extremely rehearsed answers during the real interview]*

Don't worry too much ALOT of people end up stuttering during actual interview because of nerves.

Rest assured they won't reject you because of your stuttering.best of luck.

My brother has a pretty significant stutter that he has battled with all of his life. For the most part he can talk perfectly if hes comfortable, but if he is uncomfortable in any way it can get pretty bad. Interviews and intense conversations or confrontations being key situations that are tough for him.

In past interviews (not for professional program), he has always chose to tell the interviewers from the very beginning that he has a stutter/stammer and asks for their patience if he does in fact run into any difficulties. It has always seemed to work fine for him in terms of his overall interview quality. But it hasnt kept him from still stammering during them.

As long as you practice and become comfortable with the interviewing process, you will not face any difficulties in getting into dental school. As stated, practice answering questions about your application/personal statement to yourself, and then do it with a family member or friend. With interviews for dental school, being confident in yourself and your abilities will go a long way and help you stand out to the interviewer.
