Any Benefit To Joining ASDA

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would just wait until you are in school. The school probably includes membership as part of your tuition anyway. Paying the fifty bucks now won't give you any advantage in gaining admission. 🙂

Dr. Spongebob is right, I never joined it. I didn't even join my predental society until after I had already interviewed at 2 schools and it was too late to matter.

Well, getting involved is a good thing, but it doesnt mean that any membership will give u an edge to dental school application. I joined the ADEA(American Dental Education Association) cos I was interested in academia and want to learn more. It is only 25 for me. And they give me monthly journals. It just provides a source for me to learn what's going on in dentistry.

And I joined the UCSD Predental Society and undergraduate students run Free Dental Clinic Project because it is worthwhile. In a place without a dental school, we have 3 different sites(one is being rennovated and will be ready sometime in June/July). Clinic runs four days a week. We provide free dental treatments to homeless and low income families. In addition, volunteers have many opportunities to learn various skills. I have got my Xray license certification, went to Thousand Smiles, CDA conference, CPR certified and will be trained to become a dental health ambassador to preach oral hygiene instruction to people. Dont forget our guest lecture series when we have different school officials and specialists to inspire us. If anyone is interested to learn more, please visit http://acs.ucsd.edu/~ucsdfdc/ And of cos, if you have read way too many times about the free clinic and have enough, feel free to pm me to ask me to stop. Actually, I didnt join this club/project until I graduated from college. That's what i have done in 1 yr time. Imagine what you could do if you come early.
