Hey there - MS3 here...hoping to do an elective in the Duke ED as a 4th year. The website is under construction, and I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction for info.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think anyone in the Duke EM program frequents SDN, I think you're out of luck, bub.

j/k. I'm sure there will be an eminent post shortly from someone who can help you.

If all else fails, just call the ER at Duke and ask for a resident or faculty member. They should be able to point you in the right direction.

The MS IV rotation information is on the SAEM website... Here's the link:

Ahem, I know that I am not the poster that Quinn was referring to but don't worry, the famous one will be here soon. In the interim, Duke's ED website is not under construction that I know of. Here is the link:

You can contact Dr. Charles Gerardo at [email protected]. He is the medical student coordinator. You can also contact Kim Brown, our residency coordinator at 919-681-2247.

BC You know I got nuttin' but love for ya, but I never see ya 'round these parts!

Not much more I can contribute after my hale and erstwhile colleagues, except this - visiting electives at DUMC are through the SOM, and, in true Duke fashion, starts out with tons of paperwork, and fees that seem to equal $1/page of application.

Don't mean to be a stranger. Seems like the second I try to sign on to this forum, the dang beeper goes off. I hate call!! Counting the seconds to get back to the ED. Weather is getting chilly up here. That warm florida sunshine sounds pretty nice. On the Xbox front, my son is bugging the heck out of me to get him one. He's got PS2 already. I don't want him to end up like you!! (ha ha ha). Hope all is well in Tampa. Say hi to Cheryl for me.

I am interested in the Duke EM residency. Anyone have any thoughts on it? Thanks!

I have some thoughts on it, though I may be a bit biased. I am one of the seniors. (What's up Billy Bob)

Fire me an email if you have any questions. Otherwise, I have been loving it here. Would do it again in a minute. The faculty have a broad range of experience from newbies fresh out of residency to old timers. Also with a broad range of interests (tactical medicine to simulator medicine to (gasp) research. It is still a fairly new program, so we don't have the problem of inbreeding seen in some programs.

Hey Swat Doc:

Didn't even need the "JM" to know it's you! Perfect screen name. So, there's 3 of us Blue Devils on this board now. Hmmm, who could that third one be? 😕 😕

Please feel free to PM me as well for any info on Duke. I am an intern and would be happy to share my experiences.

Bill.
