hundreds of volunteer hours, started my own non profit, currently in my first semester at a SMP program to boost GPA, have paid research.

Just wondering if there was any chance this cycle, i already applied and submitted everything, but it was pretty late. I submitted around early october, and wanted to know if I should keep any hopes up or not. Also any suggestions on any schools I should add, that MIGHT invite me for an interview?

Hard to say, if you get lucky you may get something next year, or not at all.

Regardless, you need to essentially maintain a 4.0 in your SMP in order to prove you're not the same academically as you were in undergrad. My undergrad GPA is very similar to yours, and after finishing an SMP with a 3.9 I received 2 interviews this cycle (although I did apply back in May/June).

@aznriptide859 how many SMPs did you apply to? I'm seriously considering doing this for the next application cycle, but I'm not sure how competitive it is. Also, how does that work because I wouldn't have any new grades from the program when I apply (again) in June?

I applied to A&M and Rutgers GSBS; the only reason I didn't go to Rutgers was because they sent their acceptance after I had already enrolled at A&M lol.

I simply submitted my grades from undergrad via official transcripts.

Applying so late may be your downfall this cycle, which may not be a bad thing since you'll have your SMP transcripts for next cycle. Otherwise, you seem well-rounded. If I was an adcom, I would grant you an interview, but my biggest concern would be if you could handle the rigorous science courses considering your sGPA. Do well in your SMP. I'd say a 3.4 minimum GPA in your SMP to demonstrate proficiency. If you need to, as you already have great extracurrics, put your EC's on hold and focus on that GPA for next cycle since your SMP transcripts will be in the hands of ADCOM next time.

Apply to ASDOH.

why asdoh?

yea I am only focusing on grades right now, im on track for a 4.0 this first semester after 2 rounds of tests, so hopefully I can pull it off. The annoying part is trying to get to know the professors here since I will have to get new rec letters if I need to reapply. I just want 1 interview this cycle and I would be happy haha

Also I don't know if adcom will notice but my senior year I took 22 creds in the fall and 24 creds in the spring of basically all upper level science classes and made the deans list both semesters

They extremely value community service hours. The more you have, the more competitive you will be. And you will notice that both their average overall and science GPAs are in the low 3s, and their average DAT A.A. is about 18.5. So if you have "hundreds of volunteering hours," and with your DAT scores, your GPA can be overlooked. But apply early because they get a lot of applicants every year.

ohh okay, and you're right about the number of applicants lol, they accept like 2% of them since sooooo many apply. Do you think it's too late to add them post aadsas submission?

I don't know nearly as much as I'd like to about applying this late in the cycle, so I won't pretend to and lead you astray. But if you do choose to apply next cycle, continue volunteering and add a couple hundred more community service hours; you will increase chances of gaining admission considerably.

awesome! I will definitely look into the option of adding them this cycle, I guess i'll try to call them and see what they say. I appreciate the help!!!

Podiatry is an excellent alternative to dentistry. I believe there are 3 or 4 podiatry schools that accept the DAT. Good luck.

may be you should go in podiatry then. funny how you make a new account just to troll. no podiatry schools accepts the DAT. they all require MCAT

I don't think you're in the right universe.

Rick's leaving soon, you better jump in that portal or we're stuck here with you.

Chances for this cycle, low. Get a 4.0 this school year, chances for next cycle if you apply earlier, better than this year.

Yea that's what I am aiming for, the annoying part is having to get new rec letters and having to shadow a new dentist for a rec letter since this masters program is in another state than where I got my original dentist rec letter from
