Does anyone know if there are dental schools that offer early decisions to highly qualified applicants? I know that some of the private med schools do but I haven't heard of any dental schools. I would appreciate any information you might have. Depending on the program it might just be one less thing to worry about (admission.)
Thanks!

bump

I was wondering the same thing.

Any school that goes through AADSAS (pretty much every school) is not allowed to give acceptances before the 1st business day of December. That pretty much means that your only chance would be a school not affiliated with AADSAS (are there very many? I don't know).

If you're looking for that extra edge to show how much you care about a school, then you should just turn in your apps early and get your secondaries to them as soon as you can. Then obviously make an impression during interviews and get the message across that you want to go their school and that they are number one in your book.
If you are just referring to getting in early, pretty much if you get an interview before December from most schools, you are 95% in on the 1st business day of December. In my opinion, that's pretty early....about 8-9 months before you start for most schools. Even if you wanted to get in earlier than that (if it is possible through non AADSAS school), I don't think it would be that great...you end up just waiting and waiting....counting down the months.....

Well, I guess what I meant to ask was, have you ever heard of anyone, for example, applying for Fall of 2004 and the school letting them start in Fall of 2003 if they have their degree, good DAT scores, and all prereq's??

I know a few people who found out before Dec. 1 by using the infosource, but after word was let out infosource shut down until after Dec. 1 and no one else could check their status. I think the one's who did find out was only a couple of weeks early anyways. I don't think that texas schools participate in aadsas so you might be able to find out early from them. Help me out, those who applied to texas schools. By the way, you are not guaranteed an acceptance if you interview before september. It is true you are competing for more spots than after dec., but take it from me and a lot of other people you are not guaranteed a spot. I know its a pain waiting, but everyone has to do it so just plan on expecting christmas decorations to be out before you find out anything.

critterbug,

i dont think what you are talking about is at all possible. you always specify the cycle that you are applying for and based on how the application cycle and procedures are handled, one can only apply to one application cycle at any given time. application cycle for fall 2004 just started and goes till next spring. during this time, who ever that applies is only applying for falll 2004 enrollment. so to answer your question again, you cant be possibly applying for fall 2004 today, somehow get an interview mid July and get accepted and enroll this fall. things dont work out that way.

Thank you Comet208

Thats what I thought. Thank you for clarifying. I'll set my hopes for Fall 2004 then !!
