I was just wondering if there are any DOs currently doing their anesthesiology residency. If so, where? Is it extremely hard to get into this type of residency for a DO?

Roughly 150 DOs/year...... Everywhere......Not hard at all.

PLEASE LOOK AT PREVIOUS THREADS..

All over the place except for a few programs. As the previous poster said please do a quick search. You can even see where osteo's matched last year on a prior thread.

If you have further questions that cannot be answered with a search query just ask.

What he said is right on the money. I am a CA-1 at Dartmouth & have another DO (CCOM) in my class. 2 DOs just finished here last year. Dartmouth has no hesitations &, in fact - excepting surgery, DOs are in all of our residencies. Even better, DOs comprise a higher percentage of fellowships here than we do in the residencies.

Do not let anyone tell you that being a DO will impair your ability to match into a top-notch/elite anesth program. Anyone claiming such is misinformed or is using that as a cheap excuse for not having the gumption to try themselves, in my honest opinion. However, do not interpret my comments as saying it is easy to land a spot in a top gas program - it is not & it is getting more competitive every year. Only you can gauge how earnestly competitive you are, but do not let "DO" play a role in choosing programs.
